Jordan,

The four widespread species are ...erm, widespread :P, across many parts of the country.

The sand lizard and smooth snake are found only in certain parts of a handful of counties.

Its probably easier for you to say where in the country you are (closest town & county), and people more local can probably help. Its general forum policy not to disclose exact locations, but I'm sure we can offer sufficient advice for you to get to see wild reptiles.

Welcome to the forum.

Steve

(oops, just read the headder: Slow worm, Grass snake, Adder and Common lizards, probably exist in just about every county of Britain. Adder is rare in 5-6 counties. Grass snake not found in Scotland. Smooth snake found in Dorset, Hants. Surrey and West Sussex only. Sand lizard, as for Smooth snake plus the West Lancashire coast and a few other introductions.)

I'm in East Devon. Try heaths and Dartmoor for adders and lizards. Grass snakes try woodland edges and damp places but also heaths. We don't have Sand Lizards and Smooth Snakes but you never know! Woodbury is a good heath. There's lots of good sites really in Devon.
